We will discuss this in an initial session. If, during this session, it becomes clear that counselling is not the best way forward for you, alternative options can be discussed.
Counselling is a collaborative process in which client and counsellor work together towards a desired outcome. In addition to the potential to resolve particular issues, counselling can also encourage self-discovery.
This will depend to some extent on the presenting problem. An individual wishing to resolve a specific issue may be able to reach a resolution within a few sessions. Sometimes a client will wish to take more time to explore in depth an aspect of their life that makes them unhappy.
Counselling sessions usually take place once a week, preferably on the same day and at the same time. I have a limited number of slots in the early evening. My consulting hours are usually Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesday, 09.30 to 5.30.
Fees are £65 per 50-minute session, payable before each session. I reserve some concessionary places for students and those on low income.
Everything discussed during counselling is confidential, apart from rare instances which will be explained in the initial consultation. My practice conforms to General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR). A GDPR consent form will be provided at your initial session.
Missed sessions will be charged unless at least 48 hours’ notice is given.
